I began working on landscapes in 1994. This new focus coincided with my decision to live in Marseilles. Fascinated by the light, the land and cloud formations, this new panorama instantly seemed familiar. Born in Buenos Aires, from early childhood I travelled the vastness of Patagonia and the Brazilian coast. The violent chromatic transitions of the sunsets, the force of the elements, the affirmation of immensity, resonate with an archaic part of my being. When I commune whith the landscape, a sensation of plenitude envelops me. My goal is to portray this marvellous condition. The surface of water or land, the horizon and the sky are recurring themes. There is no point of reference that allows one to appreciate the true scale. The perspective sometimes seems vertiginous. One’s gaze is attracted by the ever-changing depths of field which are manifestations of time uspended and of infinite space. An apparent stillness hightlights the movement of the soul in harmony with the spectacle of the world.

From the ideal cities of the Renaissance to satellite images of our contemporary cities, the urban landscape continues to be a subject in the arts, the human sciences and metaphysics.
To paint a landscape is to reflect the world that surrounds us. I paint what I see and what I don’t see - what is and what is not. To transcribe the feeling of being in front of and inside the jumble : buildings, streets, bridges, highways, green spaces, monuments, lights. Layered indented crust covering the skin of the earth.
The unsettling beauty of this panorama questions my view of the urban world.
This endless perspective evokes a planetary scale.
The city, grafted onto original topography, is man’s handiwork and theater, the site of his everyday dramas and joys. A place where nature can no longer help us, a place of intense social pressure, where the best and the worst are present.
A substitute for paradise, where anything is possible.
Painting captures my emotional responses to the spectacle of the world.
